Brittany Snow on Embracing Complexity in Netflix's The Hunting Wives
In Netflix’s darkly seductive thriller The Hunting Wives, actress Brittany Snow dives headfirst into a role that pushed her emotionally, creatively, and even instinctively. In our recent conversation with the actress, Snow opened up about what drew her to the project and why fear was her biggest motivator.
“When I read the scripts, I instantly knew I had to be part of it,” Snow shared. “It was one of those rare moments where I had the gut feeling that if this show came out and I wasn’t in it, I’d regret it.”
Snow, who plays the complicated and enigmatic Sophie, revealed that what made The Hunting Wives stand out from other experiences was that she was given all the scripts before committing to the role. “That never happens,” she laughed. “It gave me a sense of the full arc, and I could immediately see the layers and psychological shifts my character would go through.”
But that same depth also made her nervous. “There were definitely fears,” she admitted. “I didn’t know if I could go to some of the emotional places the role demanded. But that fear told me this was exactly the type of project I needed to do. It scared me in the right way.”
Set against a backdrop of Southern elegance and simmering secrets, The Hunting Wives explores obsession, power, and female friendship. For Snow, it was the nuanced portrayal of desire that added depth to the drama. “This show doesn’t judge these women,” she said. “It asks you to understand them, even when they make dark choices.”
Snow was also drawn to the complexity of the relationships, especially the female dynamics. “It’s rare to see women written with such intensity and contradiction,” she said. “There’s beauty and ugliness in every character—and that’s real life.”
When asked about what she hopes audiences take away, Snow was clear: “I want people to feel uncomfortable in the best way. To ask themselves why they’re attracted to the danger, why they root for people who do questionable things. That gray area is what excites me as an actor.”
With The Hunting Wives, Brittany Snow has firmly stepped into a role where the experience of creating the series was one defined by risk, depth, and fearless storytelling.
