Mo Gilligan on Keeping the Jokes Fresh For In The Moment

Mo Gilligan recently joined us to speak about his methods for catering to the varying audiences during his world tour, In the Moment. He talked about the processes he went through to discover his own comedic style and the advantages of using storytelling for his material. At each stop, he connects with the audience by opening the show with his first impressions of the city while staying respectful. While he does his best to stay relatable, he acknowledged that an important aspect of being a comedian is accepting that not every joke will land universally. To improve his material as the tour goes on, he makes subtle changes between each stop and gauges the audience’s reactions. Mo also reflected on his early career, sharing strategies he used to book gigs and leveraging social media as a valuable tool to engage with more people.
