Q&A with 2020 Emmy Nominated cinematographers Ben Mullin and Dwayne Fowler from Life Below Zero. Moderated by Mara Webster, In Creative Company.

The everyday struggles of living in the secluded state of Alaska where one wrong decision could cost you your life.

Ben Mullin
is a 3X Emmy Award-winning cinematographer on BBC Studios and National Geographic’s television series “Life Below Zero.” Ben was raised in California and earned a degree in biology from UC Santa Barbara. A move to Lake Tahoe introduced him to cinematography through skiing, and filming for dozens of sports action ski documentaries. After both commercial and feature work as a cinematographer and as steadicam operator for various clients, including the Navy SEALs and other U.S. special forces, Ben joined the “Life Below Zero” crew and has been on the team since 2014.

Dwayne Fowler is a freelance cinematographer on the BBC Studios and National Geographic Emmy award-winning series “Life Below Zero,” as well as the spin-off series “Life Below Zero: Next Generation” and “Life Below Zero: Port Protection.” Other notable work includes the National Geographic Series “The Story of Us” and “The Story of God” with Morgan Freeman. Dwayne studied Film and Television at Boston University and earned a graduate degree in Natural History Filmmaking and Science Communication from the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
